Kimberly DeWitt Mowbray

Senior Attorney
Kimberly DeWitt Mowbray is a Senior Associate Attorney with almost three decades of litigation and conflict resolution experience. After clerking for the public defender’s office in law school, she began her career with a non-profit advocating for low-income Georgians in housing, domestic relations, health care, and education matters. She then worked with that agency’s domestic violence program training shelters and advocacy groups throughout the state and went on to serve as a Special Assistant Attorney General prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases and guardianships of incapacitated adults for the Clayton and Fayette County Departments of Family and Children Services.
Ms. Mowbray spent the next era of her career honing her civil litigation skills in private practice for clients ranging from individuals with limited resources to multi-million-dollar companies. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of areas of law, including construction defects, minor and catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, medical negligence, insurance coverage and other contract disputes, and trust and estate litigation. Her varied experience allows her to anticipate what the other side will do and prepare accordingly, and she has a knack for spotting critical issues and strategies other attorneys miss.
There is no question that Ms. Mowbray vastly prefers being in a courtroom than behind a desk, but she is also a pragmatist and knows that her clients’ goals and economic interests are often best served by working toward cooperative resolutions. She believes in being direct and in educating her clients regarding applicable laws, processes and timelines, potential risks, and practical considerations to demystify their legal issues and help them make informed decisions on the best way to meet their goals – and to know when to pivot if necessary.
Ms. Mowbray is a native Detroiter who graduated from Michigan State University with high honor, then migrated south, earning her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. She is licensed and has practiced in both state and federal courts in Georgia and has successfully argued cases before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Outside of work, Ms. Mowbray is the primary benefactor and greatest admirer of her son’s many orchestra engagements and achievements, frequently attends live music shows, and finds immense joy in her ever-growing vinyl record collection.
