Courtney Morgan

Senior Associate Attorney

Courtney Morgan is a Senior Associate Attorney on the Litigation Team at Oliver Hughes LLC. An experienced trial attorney, Courtney believes every case has a story and that effective advocacy requires understanding how that story and the law intersect with each client’s goals.

Before joining Oliver Hughes, Courtney spent her career in the courtroom, first with the Georgia Public Defender Council and later in private practice, developing extensive experience navigating high-stakes matters. She approaches litigation with careful preparation, candid communication, creative problem-solving, strong advocacy, and an exhaustive understanding of the law as applied to the facts of each case. That approach is exemplified in Reese v. State, 314 Ga. 871 (2022), where the Supreme Court of Georgia overturned her client’s murder conviction after addressing a significant, nuanced violation of law that Courtney identified and challenged during the underlying jury trial. In its decision, the Court directly quoted Courtney’s trial argument.

A native of Austin, Texas, Courtney graduated cum laude from Texas Lutheran University, where she captained the NCAA women’s soccer team, and earned her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.

Outside of work, Courtney is a lifelong animal lover who is known to bring home foster kittens—to the delight of her two children and with the reluctant cooperation of her beloved dogs and husband.
